One of the most recongnizable movements at thy gym and the basis of so much gym culture --> the squat. 

But. 

Barbell squats are an exercise I DO NOT recommend. Why? 

Don't get your hopes up too much though...there is a bit of a twist here!!!!

You need to divide your fitness program into two halves. 

  1. The basics that you do regularly to maintain your fitness, strength, and mobility for life.
  2. Life. The fun stuff. That race, or climb, or sport, or whatever it is that you deeply desire to do. 

Everyone focuses on #2 and the whole fitness industry does as well....

The number of times I have been told that I am too fat to be a fitness coach has been too many to count! 

Maybe I don't know what the hell I am talking about. Maybe I do. 

I can say, that like you, I am probably never going to have a 6-pack stomach. 

And that's okay.
